All the literature that I have run across states that The Lovikka Mitten was developed in northern Sweden by a woman named Erika Aittamaa in 1892.  But, hey, who really knows?  It&#039;s an awesome mitten and wherever it came from, I am grateful!  Thanks for writing!</description>

		<description>oo, fantastic knits! Thanks especially for the Lovikka mittens-pattern in Knitting traditions - though those mittens are traditional Finnish, not Swedish.. :)
Both the term lovikka and the name of the inventor in the pattern are Finnish - although Lovikka village is located in the Swedish side of the border in the Tornio river valley area, which is an area specific in it&#039;s own dialect and cultural features, never mind the border line. :)</description>
